Dona Azumira, a Brazilian country widow, sewed shrouds by night that eerily foretold the next day's deaths. One stormy night, compelled by a supernatural voice, she stitched a new shroud—only to find her own name embroidered on the fabric, her death foretold. Burning, cutting, and burying it failed; the cloth revealed a countdown: "Three nights left." A healer told her this was the inescapable curse of a previous tailor who had defied fate. Following the shroud's clues to the graveyard, they returned it to the curse's source, and Azumira was freed. Yet elders whispered that the sound of a sewing machine still echoed from the graveyard at midnight. The tale teaches: trying to foresee or alter fate will ultimately be consumed by fate itself.
